VFW Memorial Day Celebration - Felton, DE

This year’s Memorial Day Service was again sponsored and organized by The Adams-Simpler-Ware VFW Post #6009 of Felton. The program was held at Odd Fellow Park located just west of the railroad tracks on Main Street, Monday May 30th at 10:00 am.
The program began with opening remarks from the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Felton. Presentation of Colors was by Boy Scout Troop #141, an invocation by Rev. Bruce Tribbitt, our National Anthem sung by Leona Hill which was then followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
The community tribute to our fallen servicemen and servicewomen followed next with numerous wreaths and memorials placed at the stone marker located in the park. Following the memorial presentations Taps and Echo was performed with trumpets by Nick Nennen and Eric Siverson of Boy Scout Troop #141.
America, the beautiful was sung by Weston Williams of Felton followed by a Hometown Memorial Day story presented by Jean Wothers and Jeannie Wood remembering and reflecting about what Memorial Day was like at Felton High School in years gone by.
The Junior Girl Scouts of America, Troop #696 did an honorary presentation entitled the Day is Done. At this point the program concluded with a benediction by Rev. Bruce Tribbitt.
The Felton Community Fire Company and Auxiliary were proud participants in the program to honor our fallen service men and women again this year. The Auxiliary hosted a luncheon in the Fire Hall and the Firemen were selling ice cream from the trailer located in the parking lot following the ceremony.
