Fire Prevention Winners - Station 48
Wednesday, February 2, 2011
The Felton Community Fire Company hosted their annual Fire Prevention Ceremony for Poster and Essay winners. Schools participating were Lake Forest North Elementary School, grades K through 3rd, and Lake Forest Central Elementary, Grades 4th and 5th.
The children in grades K through 3rd were challenged to make a poster about “Fire Safety in The Kitchen”. The 4th and 5th grades were challenged to write essays about the same topic.
In the end, there was a first place, 2nd place, and 3rd place winner from each grade. The first place winners went to the county level competition and then from there, state level completion.
We were proud to know that 5 of our 1st place winners won at county level and 3 of those winners won at state level.
Congratulations to all our winning students. The administrators, teachers, family and friends are all very proud of your fire safety awareness.
President Ken Ryder, Chief Gary Moore, and Fire Prevention Chair Terry Killen welcomed the students and presented their awards to them. A special thank you to Dorian Bennett, Lake Forest Central Elementary School, and to Todd Weller, Lake Forest North Elementary Art Teacher, was also mentioned. These two individuals go the extra mile supporting fire prevention. After the awards, the students and quests enjoyed punch, cookies, and none other than Felton Fire Company’s homemade ice cream. What a treat!
We look forward to this year’s fire prevention day. Wonder who will be this year’s winners? Good luck students. Keep up the good work.
