Martha Ann Taylor Failing


SMYRNA – Martha Ann Failing of Smyrna died of heart failure Sunday, June 16, 1991, in Kent General Hospital, Dover.  She was 56.

 

Mrs. Failing was a homemaker.

 

She is survived by her husband, Spencer Failing; her mother, Martha Fleming of Ridgely, Md.; two brothers, Walter Lofland of Wilmington and Robert Lofland of Clayton; and three sisters, Betty Gosser of Smyrna, Margaret Edge of Dover and Helen Hurd of Smyrna.

 

Burial was in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro, Md.

 

Martha joined the Felton Community Fire Company Auxiliary in 1952 and was a life member for more than 25 years.  Her mother, Martha C. Taylor Fleming, was a life member of the Auxiliary.  Her husband, Spencer Failing, began his career with FCFC in March of 1961. As a member he worked many years as one of the Ambulance Lieutenants.  He was close to achieving his 50 year membership before passing away on December 28, 2009.
